Koeze Packaging History at Jeff Koeze’s Blog05 Nov

Jeff Koeze is posting (slowly, be patient) a series of photos of old packaging of Koeze products from our collection.  Here is the first photo of a Cream Nut Peanut Butter tin made by the Bel Car Mo Nut Butter Company, which Albertus Koeze bought in the 1920’s.

I am having way too much fun with this ‘lil mystery! Looks like Cream Nut Bread was made by a company called Gunzenhauser’s:

Could Gunzenhauser’s lead to Bel Car Mo Nut Butter Company?!

    Hi

I have to say that I have never heard of Koeze’s until today when I ran across a container at the Salvation Army Store in Tyler, TX. An internet search landed me here and I’m trying to find out how old the jsr is…still searching.

But in the meantime, I would like information on both buying wholesale and about your fundraising program. I am involved with Cub Scouts and we are always looking for good fundraising opportunities. Plus, I have a retail business.

    Thanks for the information.

Our History

Koeze Company was founded in 1910 by my great-grandfather, Sibbele Koeze, as a wholesale grocer selling produce, butter, and eggs to small stores around Grand Rapids, Michigan.  His son, Albertus Koeze, took over the business about 1918.  In 1925 Albertus purchased a local peanut butter company, and from then until today peanut butter and roasted nuts have been part of Koeze’s.  My father and mother, A. Scott and Ruth Koeze, began making confections in the 1980’s. My mother retired in the early ’90’s, my father in the late ’90’s, and since then I (Jeff Koeze) have worked to continue our traditions of great products and great service.
